Canada Cultural Spaces Fund

Government of Canada March 27, 2018

The Canada Cultural Spaces Fund (CCSF) supports the improvement of physical conditions for arts, heritage, culture and creative innovation. The Fund supports renovation and construction projects, the acquisition of specialized equipment and feasibility studies related to cultural spaces.

In Budget 2017 the Government of Canada announced an additional $300 million over a ten year period, starting in 2018-2019, to further support creative hubs and other cultural spaces. This additional investment is a part of the social infrastructure component of the Investing in Canada Plan.

This program seems to have been renamed again and has a budget of $300m for the next 10 years, surpassing the promised $25m per year.

Chapter 5 > Table 5.1: New Investments In Canadian Arts and Culture

According to the 2016 federal budget, the Promart and Trade Routes programs have been renamed "Showcasing Canada's Cultural Industries to the World." This line item receives $10m for 2016-17 and is scheduled to receive the promised $25m in 2017-18. The original promise had no timeline, so for now it's in progress - it will be updated as achieved if/when that program gets its $25 million per year, or broken if that hasn't happened by the next election.
